So let us start with making a sun catcher which is meant for a window. Here is a list of what you will need to make a sun catcher: a roll of lead tape: a hook of the rubber suction kind, a paintbrush, 1x2cm of string in length, a water pot, some glass paints and thinner and a tube of glass outliner. Along with these items you will also require an A5 size acrylic sheet and a design pattern to work from.
If you have are creative then you can also draw your very own design pattern. If you are not artistic, you can simply purchase a design pattern from any handicraft store.
To get started on making your crystal sun catcher, the first step would be to take off the film from the acrylic sheet. Next cut a length of tape from your lead taping. The backing will need to be taken off from the lead taping and only then you will be able to stick the tape along the edges of the acrylic sheet.
The third step would be to cut about 4cm of the lead tape and putting the string into the center. Continue to cover the tape around the string, leaving the tape open at the end. You will then need to attach this to any one edge of the acrylic sheet to make a hook to be able to suspend it with.
The next step would be to place your design under the acrylic sheet and then you can draw your pattern with the tube of glass outliner. Before you proceed make sure you wait for this to dry.
Once dried, you can use your glass paints and start painting in your designs. This could take a little while to dry so you will need to be patient. It is preferable to leave the design to dry overnight.
The final touch to add to your sun catcher will be to stick the suction hook on your door or window. After sticking the suction you will be able to hang your sun catcher. The advantage of hanging your sun catcher at a window or door would be that the light would stream through your sun catcher and you would be able to enjoy the beauty of it.
